Job Description

The organization is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a direct link to our campus-based mentor program and the college student volunteers at chapters in the Midwest region. The associate director of programming oversees and ensures program quality, program management, and financial sustainability at the chapter level. This includes onsite and remote chapter oversight and support, college student leadership development, volunteer training, partnership development, chapter fund development, and program management.  

Written and verbal communication skills, relationship building skills, the ability to interact effectively with a variety of people, and teamwork skills are valuable in this role. 

This position reports to the national director of programming. This position includes significant evening work and travel during the academic year. 

Location: 

Candidates may be based in any community with an Ohio or Indiana chapter of College Mentors for Kids. 

The national office of College Mentors for Kids is located in Indianapolis, IN. This position is remote for candidates outside Indianapolis and is hybrid in-office and remote for candidates in the Indianapolis area.    

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage all campus-related functions and aid in the creation and implementation of short- and long-term chapter plans involving recruitment, activity planning, training, partnership development, budgeting, chapter strengthening, goal setting, and leadership. 
  • Communicate with college students, partner elementary school staff, and university faculty to assist in solving problems and building relationships.  
  • Ensure volunteers equitably implement the national College Mentors for Kids program model and standards. 
  • Assist chapters with fundraising planning, execution, and financial management. 
  • Travel to each assigned chapter to provide on-site assistance to chapter staff and partners (includes evening hours and some overnight travel during the academic year). During the academic year, associate directors of programming spend approximately 35% of their time traveling/working at chapters. 
  • Collect and manage data from each assigned chapter on a weekly or monthly basis.  
  • Assist in the revision and creation of trainings, resources, and other projects to strengthen the program. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Information

Salary Range and Benefits:

  • $36,000 - $38,000
  • Full time, exempt
  • Generous vacation package, including:
    • 16 days of paid vacation time per year, increasing to 25 days over time
    • 7 paid holidays plus the full week between Dec 24 – January 1
