Job Description
- Role Purpose Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating projects from initiation through to implementation.
- Leads cross-functional project teams and works with Business Analysts/partners to determine and translate business requirements into technology solutions.
- Responsible for managing project costs, resources, change requests, risk and issues to ensure that maximum business benefit maintained as well as provision of regular project status updates.
- Typically has previous IT and business work experience including managing team(s) in analysis and/or programming functions.
- Requires financial acumen in terms of representing project financials within the Clarity tools.
- Works with Program Managers, Directors of Technical Delivery and Portfolio Management to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects.
- Accountable for ensuring appropriate/optimal engagement of delivery resources (may work with Resource Manager to allocate resources).
- Context - Management Dimensions May be required to undertake people management responsibilities for up to 5 team members.
- May be required to undertake coaching and guidance to the Project Management community to promote best practice in Project Management.
- May have a mentor to assist with relevant project management or business domain experience.
- May be required to promote Project Management practices through formal and informal networks.
- Functional Capability Develops high-level project plans and ensures that the scope and approach are fully understood by all stakeholders.
- Ensures that the supporting Business Case is updated throughout the course of delivery and works with the business to ensure business case objectives are met.
- Assembles project plans, ensures all systems of record for project reporting are kept current, and directs and monitors work effort on a regular basis.
- Reviews development estimates from Development Teams and actively seeks clarification/verification as appropriate.
- Ensures accurate reflection of Project Budgets, Forecasts and Actuals within Clarity.
- Identifies and tracks key project milestones (base-lining critical path).
- Monitors and communicates the progress of project delivery and ensures timely and effective communication of project status in terms of cost, forecast, schedule and assessment of risks/issues.
- Negotiates and influences cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate resourcing levels are engaged and maintained throughout the course of the development life cycle.
- Pro-actively anticipates project risks and issues and ensures adequate mitigation is put in place to ensure delivery is not compromised.
- Ensures effective change control procedures and processes are efficiently used to maintain control on scope, schedule and cost.
- Oversees quality assurance and ensures appropriate levels of end-to-end testing resources across the project are deployed.
