Colby Community College is located in northwest Kansas, approximately 50 miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders. From a humble beginning of 99 students in 1964, CCC now serves more than 2,000 students annually. 

In addition to a 57-acre main campus, a 60-acre farm is used as a hands-on laboratory and training facility. The College also accommodates hundreds of off-campus students through face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.

A number of studies conclude that CCC is a solid educational investment. Colby has a strong history of student performance and has the best graduation and retention rates among Kansas community colleges. 

Job Description

  • Master's degree required; doctorate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of higher education teaching experience is required.
  • Experience working with faculty unions, committee work, and assessment is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of programmatic and regional accreditation is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Colby Community College is accepting applications for the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs. The VPAA is a member of the College's senior leadership team, reporting directly to the President.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The VPAA is responsible for instructional leadership, including management, supervision, and evaluation of all academic programs. The individual must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of community colleges and their services, as well as a robust background in leadership. The successful candidate will develop and supervise departmental budgets, ascertain compliance with all Kansas Board of Regents' and accrediting agencies' regulations, and develop and administer policies, procedures, and practices for faculty members and students. Consideration is given to candidates possessing experience with a faculty union, knowledge of higher education programmatic and regional accreditation processes and procedures (i.e., the Higher Learning Commission), and the ability to initiate new programs of study. Understanding the importance of technology, integrity, innovative thinking, a sense of humor, and the ability to work as a team to increase enrollment in a rural setting is necessary.


COMPENSATION

$90,000-$110,000.

Flexible benefits program that includes options for single and family health and dental coverage, life insurance, reimbursement accounts, sick leave, and vacation leave allowances. Participation in the state retirement program is required.
