Colby Community College is located in northwest Kansas, approximately 50 miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders. From a humble beginning of 99 students in 1964, CCC now serves more than 1,900 students annually. 

In addition to a 57-acre main campus, a 60-acre farm is used as a hands-on laboratory and training facility. The college also accommodates hundreds of off-campus students through face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.

Job Description

Colby Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Head Rodeo Coach. The successful candidate will be tasked with recruiting, coaching, and mentoring students to develop and promote the Colby Community College rodeo program. The Head Rodeo Coach is a twelve-month, non-faculty, non-instructional position and is anticipated to be a minimum of 40 hours per week. Evening and weekend work/travel is required for practice and contests both in and out of state.

Essential duties include:

  • Excellent communication skills, with strong knowledge and experience in working with rodeos.
  • The ability to motivate, inspire and mentor rodeo team members to be competitive on a national level.
  • Traveling with students for practices and contests is required, including both in-state and out-of-state.
  • Care and management of the practice livestock and facility.
  • Hosting the Colby Community College rodeo.
  • Encouraging students to participate in volunteer work in the community.

In addition, the selected individual is responsible for:

  • Care and management of the practice livestock and facility.
  • Helping at the CCC farm.
  • Hosting the NIRA Colby Community College rodeo.
  • Encouraging students to participate in volunteer work in the community.

SALARY

$34,000-$39,500

Flexible benefits program which includes options for single and family health and dental coverage, life insurance, reimbursement accounts, sick leave and vacation leave allowances. Participation in state retirement program required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working in and competing with rodeos required.
  • Coaching experience preferred.
