Colby Community College is located in northwest Kansas, approximately 50 miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders. The college has grown from 99 students in the fall of 1964 to around 1,900 today.  

In addition to an 80-acre main campus, CCC has a 60-acre farm used as a hands-on laboratory and training facility. The college also accommodates hundreds of off-campus students in the 14-county service area through face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.

Job Description

Colby Community College is accepting applications for the position of Registrar. This 12-month position begins in August 2017.

The Registrar is the academic regulatory officer for the college. This position provides leadership and oversees the management of the Office of the Registrar. The Registrar is responsible for compiling, maintaining, tracking, and verifying all student academic records. The Registrar must handle multiple responsibilities, be technologically competent, and have strong organizational skills. The Registrar works with a variety of constituencies in a collaborative manner. The successful candidate must possess excellent planning, time management abilities, and interpret and ensure adherence to policy and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate should possess a strong belief in student-focused processes and procedures, and have an understanding of the rural college environment. The Registrar reports to the Executive Director of Student Affairs.

  • Ability to interpret/apply regulations pertaining to student records and confidentiality, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with faculty, staff, students and the public
  •  Ability to prioritize work and perform well under pressure
  • Analytical skills with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to act independently, collaborate with others, and make responsible decisions
  • Ability to function effectively in the team environment
  • Understanding of and sensitivity towards the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Salary

$43,500-$48,500

Flexible benefits program which includes: options for single and family health and dental coverage, life insurance, reimbursement accounts, sick leave and vacation leave allowances. Participation in state retirement program required.

Hours/Schedule

Full-time, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and occasional weekend activities required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience serving in the capacity of Registrar or equivalent
  • At least three years progressively responsible experience working in higher education
  • Extensive knowledge of college programs, policies, and processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student information systems
  • Accuracy with data entry and attention to detail are essential
  • Knowledge of federal, state and accreditation agency regulations related to the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Prior experience managing budgets and supervising staff
  • Knowledge of or experience in the comprehensive community college environment
  • Prior experience in training or teaching
