Coffman Engineers is looking for the right individual to support the marketing and proposal writing needs of our Woodland Hills office. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for marketing, writing, and relationship building to join our team. The right candidate will work with our Los Angeles GM and Regional Marketing Manager to support marketing and proposal efforts while supporting the office’s business development strategy. 

The primary work in this role includes supporting the development of prime and subconsultant proposal materials, other marketing materials, and various communications pieces. Tasks may also include project lead tracking, CRM and marketing database maintenance, presentation development, internal team coordination, event support, and more. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious marketing professional to learn from seasoned AEC marketers and grow your career alongside a thriving office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume the title of master juggler. You will be a detail focused, schedule driven, multiple hat-wearing, punctuation enforcing marketing professional. You will have an eye for graphic design, a brain for strategic thinking, a passion for collaboration, and a hunger for learning new concepts. Your marketing responsibilities will grow as you grow at Coffman.
  • Support the writing and production of qualifications-based proposals describing technically complex concepts in a way that non-technical readers can understand. Each proposal is custom written, working from various InDesign templates. The response could be a single page or 50 pages. It could be a response in SF330 format or an architect’s request for qualifications. Every situation is unique.
  • Work hand in hand with the local and companywide marketing team, engineers, various departments, and subconsultants to find and track potential project leads, assess prospective clients’ needs, and evaluate the competitive environment.
  • Maintain up to date data in various locations including Coffman’s CRM, marketing database, and more.
  • Support a variety of local and corporate marketing and BD initiatives. You may support tasks ranging from press release writing to trade show coordination and more.
  • Join and engage with appropriate architecture/engineering/construction (A/E/C) industry organizations, including Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).

We will give you the training, resources, and mentorship you need to succeed in your role, but a basic understanding of A/E/C marketing and proposal processes will accelerate your learning curve and allow you to tackle the necessary tasks more quickly.

Expected Salary Range is $70,000.00 to $85,000.00

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of professional A/E/C marketing experience recommended.
  • B.S. degree in related field recommended.
  • Must be a self-starter who is able to see the big picture and connect the vision of the company with his/her job, be persistent, and follow through in a consistent manner.
  • Passionate about the client or pursuit and takes ownership of his/her work.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and desktop publishing software preferred. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Acrobat, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Basic understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures and basic marketing principles.
  • Able to work independently, as a team member, and as a team leader.
  • Strong organizational ability, detail oriented, high degree of accuracy.
  • Must work well under pressure.
  • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
