Job Description
Coffman Engineers is seeking an Energy/Electric Utility Engineer for our Anchorage office. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, energetic team player with 5+ years of engineering experience on capital projects in alternative energy (wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen, etc.) or electric utility sectors. Coffman’s office offers a small firm work environment with large firm opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have experience in planning level and detailed engineering for a variety of projects involving electric utilities and electrical power systems, including:
- Energy modeling,
- Electrical system modeling,
- Generator controls,
- Generator support systems and ancillary fueling (gas and liquid),
- Renewable energy systems,
- Battery energy storage facilities,
- Heat recovery and combined heat and power (CHP) systems,
- Microgrids.
The successful candidate will support technical and project management functions for multi-faceted, multi-discipline projects and should have experience working in a team of engineers, operators and other stakeholders. Candidate should have expertise developing proposals, writing technical reports and should have a desire to support project management, in addition to technical work.
Qualifications
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Alaska (preferred) with engineering background.
- Project or Construction Management experience in the specified industries and sectors.
- 5+ years of experience in the energy/electric utility industries.
- Experience working in a multidiscipline engineering team.
- Ability to develop proposals, execution plans and technical engineering reports.
- Experience with project feasibility and conceptual design reports.
- Experience with total installed cost estimate development.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prepare project drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
