Backed by Y-Combinator, CocuSocial, one of the largest culinary experience marketplace in the US, is seeking several experienced chef instructors to teach recreational cooking and baking classes in the greater Chicago area. Every month, thousands of people join our fun cooking classes to make French macaron, sushi, pasta, pizza, cheese, dumpling, Spanish paella and Thai curry.

Our mission is to educate, entertain and bring people together through unique culinary experience. The Instructor will be responsible for organizing the entire class including purchasing ingredients, setting up, teaching and cleaning up.

Job Description

CocuSocial, one of the premiere culinary experience providers in the US, is seeking experienced chef instructors to teach recreational COOKING and PASTRY classes IN THEIR OWN HOMES. This opportunity is NOT VIRTUAL. However, if you have access to a venue (such as a restaurant, commercial kitchen, or event space) where you can host your classes we can discuss this as an option as well. The location where you intend to host your classes MUST be located in PORTLAND, BEAVERTON, or the surrounding area.

We're looking for experienced chef instructors who are comfortable teaching any of the following best-selling international dishes: Sushi, Dumplings, Empanadas, Pasta, Pizza, French Macaron, Choux Pastry, Chocolate Truffles, Spanish Paella, and Pad Thai. 

The instructor will be responsible for leading and organizing the entire class, including purchasing ingredients, setting up (according to social distancing guidelines), teaching each dish step-by-step and cleaning up.

Ideal candidate should be:

-An experienced chef instructor with at least 2 years experience teaching cooking classes

-Someone who loves to share his/her passion for cooking with other people and help them to learn

-Comfortable being in front of a crowd and making the group laugh and learn

-Someone with enough space at home to accommodate at least 2 people (indoor and/or outdoor)

COVID-19 considerations:
To keep everyone safe, we will be requiring guests who come into your home to take cooking classes to sign a waiver as well as wear masks and gloves at all times except when they are eating and drinking.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years experience teaching hands-on cooking classes
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid ServSafe Certification
  • Able to host at least 2 people in your home or venue
