Cochrane Pride (formerly Kindred Cochrane Pride Society) is a non-profit organization that fosters visibility, celebration, and safer spaces for all generations of the LGBTQ2S+ community, in solidarity with our allies, in Cochrane and area.
Job Description
We're looking for three talented Directors to join our volunteer Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors is responsible for setting out the vision, direction, and strategy for Cochrane Pride, including managing the day-to-day operations. As a working board, we understand that other commitments come first, but we do need people who can commit up to 10 hours per month (depending on area of responsibility).
Duties include, but are not limited to
- Attending monthly board meetings, and participating in discussion and decision making
- Sitting on any committees within your sphere of expertise
- Representing Cochrane Pride in the public sphere at events
- Providing oversight to the operations of Cochrane Pride and ensuring we meet our obligations to our stakeholders
- Volunteering at events to generate engagement and connect with the community
Your term will expire on August 30, 2021 at which point you may stand for re-election for a two year term. There is an option to shadow with our current President, Vice-President, and Secretary to determine if you wish to stand for those roles at the Annual General Meeting.
Qualifications
We're looking for folks who have experience volunteering in the non-profit sector, or have previous board experience. However, all candidates will be considered.
Additional Information
We would particularly love to hear from individuals from BIPOC communities, persons with disabilities, persons of minority sexual orientations and gender identities, persons from poor and working class backgrounds, and others with the skills and knowledge to engage equity-seeking communities.
We welcome applicants from Cochrane and its surrounding areas, such as Bragg Creek, Didsbury, Tsuu T’ina, and Morley.
This is a volunteer position, and you will be elected as a full Board Member and be required to maintain attendance in accordance with our Policies and Procedures. If you are not able to commit 2-4 hours per week to Cochrane Pride, we thank you for your interest but do require a time commitment.
This position has no compensation.
