Our Kigali Centre collaborates with global stakeholders to explore the application of technology to solve Africa’s systemic problems in public health, education, and governance. In September 2019, we acquired iHUB in Nairobi, Kenya and in 2023 we opened Co- creation HUB in Windhoek, Namibia. This expansion plan was intentional in realizing our vision to be Africa's leading pan-African creative and innovation ecosystem enabler.

Since its establishment, CcHUB has supported the development and launch of more than 10,000 innovative technology companies solving social challenges across Africa in areas including budget transparency, agtech, education, fintech, healthcare delivery, creative economy and sustainability.

Job Description

The Financial Accountant at CcHUB Rwanda is responsible for the accurate recording and analysis of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing critical financial insights to support informed decision-making. This role involves preparing financial statements, managing general ledgers, ensuring timely monthly close of the Group management reports, and collaborating with various departments/practices, and project managersto ensure good management of the company’s financial resources.

Key Responsibilities

Bank Reconciliation & Expense Management:

 

  • Prepare accurate monthly bank statements reconciliation and financial records.
  • Aggregate requisitions from the company’s expense management system (EMS), and upload on the payment platform.
  • Monitor and control expenses to maintain fiscal discipline.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly close of financial reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements.

General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Support with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts where necessary.
  • Analyze variances between actuals and budget, providing explanations and insights.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Provide support to the Group Financial Accountant and external auditors for audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement improvements to financial processes and controls.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Manage and oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.

Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of tax laws and regulations.

Financial Analysis:

  • • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for
  • improvement.
  • • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and supporting documentations for budget tracking where necessary.
  • Provide financial support and guidance to various teams within the organization.
  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as required.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
    • Experience in a similar role within the industry is advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or related software).
    • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights.
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to identify and rectify discrepancies in financial records.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to explain complex financial information to non-finance audience clearly.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
