Job Description

The Threat Intelligence Specialist will direct and be involved in the research, collection, analysis, contextualization and distribution of cyber threat intelligence to provide an accurate depiction of the current and emerging threat landscape to understand, mitigate and help neutralize threats and attacks. 

Responsibilities:

  • Research, collect, analyse and disseminate regular intelligence reports to help our audience and the African society understand prevailing and emerging threats.
  • Support management decisions on cybersecurity initiatives through statistical findings, and research-driven insights
  • Coordinate and present detailed findings of threat research with our communities and networks such as CiviCERT, NGO-ISAC, FIRST among others
  • Develop and evolve threat models to better protect startups and non-state actors in repressive environments across Africa
  • Setup and administer intelligence tools; provide advisory support in the deployment and maintenance of a suite of other technologies, including networks, IT systems across the cloud, and on-site
  • Provide technical assistance to teams and partners in the remediation and closure of cyber threats and attacks.
  • Build a remote team of young threat researchers across Africa to gather, understand and analyse threats, and respond to security incidents.
  • Produce intelligence publications on the African region, give expert presentations at reputable conferences, and submits

Qualifications

  • Expert-level understanding of threat actor's tactics, APT threats, and attribution
  • Solid understanding of malware threats, sandboxing, and experience in incident response
  • Good OPSEC, knowledge of dark web investigation, OSINT,  and other open source resources
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English. An additional foreign language such as Russian, Arabic, French, etc would be an asset.
  • 3-6 years of experience in a technical role such as malware/threat analysis, penetration testing,  IT or network administration
  • Working knowledge and administration of Linux, Mac, and Windows environments
  • Must be self-motivated, able to interpret and implement concepts from blueprints,  playbooks, and design new workflows.
  • Familiarity with scripting and cybersecurity certification is an advantage
  • The preferred candidate should be able to think on their feet.
