At CloudAcademy we believe in building and ensuring  a great quality assurance strategy for our web platform. That can mean a QA engineer pairing with developers to teach them how to better perform exploratory testing one day, to coding tools to solve quality problems the next, to developing and extending automation test frameworks, then working over time to help the whole organization improve development processes and the platform’s quality holistically by working closely with engineering and product management.

In this role you'll play a crucial part in everything we do to improve quality, speed up development time, and ship better products more consistently. You'll be working in an Agile development environment. You'll be working back-to-back with developers on innovative projects and products, whilst collaborating closely with product managers and engineers. You'll be assessing and mitigating risks,solving quality challenges, performing exploratory and automated testing, training and coaching developers and improving processes, all while working as part of a team of highly talented and supportive QA engineers. 

You will need to be able to deliver changes using your capability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Our ideal candidate is humble, equally capable of teaching and learning. You will work in our Switzerland office (Mendrisio, CH), together with our international team and we’re happy to facilitate your relocation to this area if needed.

Job Description

  • Advocate, drive and collaborate cross organizational quality initiatives across Cloud Academy
  • Participate in product squads’ daily standup meetings and retrospectives
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to develop effective strategies and test plans
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Influence the teams to conduct  more proactive quality verification
  • Coach and guide developers, product managers and designers in solid quality practices Contribute to Cloud Academy’s long term vision and strategy for QA and Test Automation
  • Look for opportunities to get test automation and quality practices into the product development process
  • Work on improving maintenance and support related quality processes, as well as support teams in defining quality strategies for experimentation

Qualifications

  • Degree in a technology-related field
  • Knowledge of relevant QA tools and practices
  • Passion for web technologies, and for shipping features that drive user adoption
  • Experience with both functional and non-functional automated testing (e.g. performance, load and stress testing)
  • Strong quality mindset, analytical mind and problem solving aptitude
  • Strong strategic Test Automation skills
  • Ability to influence and to coach developers in QA to ship high-quality software
  • Good understanding of web technologies such as: Python, Django, React, Typescript, Cypress and familiarity with both Relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
  • Experience with distributed version control systems: mostly Git (Github and/or Bitbucket)
  • Experience with both functional and non-functional automated testing (e.g. performance, load and stress testing)
  • Familiarity with cloud provider systems in either AWS or Google CloudExperience with container automation technologies such as AWS ECS and Kubernetes
  • Experience with building CI/CD pipelines using technologies such as Jenkins or Circle CIHigh level of English proficiency, both spoken and writtenExcellent communication skills
