Job Description

The role

Do you want to shape how a leading international law firm finds, uses and shares information, while staying close to the legal work itself? This role offers both.

As Information Manager for Amsterdam, you'll deliver legal research, current awareness and specialist information services to our lawyers and business professionals. As Information Manager for the Benelux, you'll lead the regional information function. You'll guide our Benelux Information Professionals, manage budgets and supplier relationships, and keep a consistent, high-quality service in line with our global and regional strategy.

Reporting to the Information Management Lead, you'll work with partners, knowledge lawyers, PSLs and colleagues across Risk, IT, Client & Market Development, Thought Leadership and our AI teams. AI is changing how legal information is found and used, and you'll help decide how our information services evolve with it.

What you'll do

Lead the Benelux information function

  • Coordinate Information Management across the Benelux offices, combining a consistent, high-quality service with local market and regulatory insight.
  • Lead and develop the Benelux Information Professionals, from hiring and appraisals to resourcing and day-to-day support.
  • Build a collaborative, service-oriented team culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Work with partners and fee-earners to understand the changing needs of our offices and strategic clients.

Manage budgets, suppliers and subscriptions

  • Manage Benelux information budgets and spend controls in line with our global and regional strategy.
  • Lead relationships with legal and non-legal information suppliers, covering usage analysis, service reviews, renewals and issue resolution.
  • Reduce duplication, use our buying power and identify cost savings across subscriptions, systems and processes.
  • Bring local market insight and user feedback to global supplier relationships and contract negotiations.

Deliver research, current awareness and thought leadership

  • Provide accurate, timely and well-sourced legal, business and market research for client work, pitches, business development and strategic priorities.
  • Act as the dedicated Information Management contact for designated practice groups in Amsterdam.
  • Help monitor Benelux and EU legal and regulatory developments.
  • Contribute research and market insight to the firm's thought leadership, client briefings and knowledge products.

Drive AI, knowledge systems and adoption

  • Champion the use of AI and advanced knowledge technologies across the Benelux team and its stakeholders.
  • Manage our knowledge and information applications, and work with IT, data and Knowledge Systems teams on taxonomies, tagging and metadata.
  • Train lawyers and business professionals to get the most from our research platforms, current awareness tools, AI tools and knowledge systems.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, copyright, data usage, confidentiality and information governance requirements.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in information management or information services, ideally within a large international legal or professional services organization.
  • Experience leading or coordinating information professionals, including line management and capability development.
  • A strong track record in procurement, supplier and subscription management, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal information resources, licensing and data usage.
  • Hands-on experience with knowledge systems, current awareness tools, template automation or AI technologies, and genuine curiosity about where they're heading.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in Dutch and English, with the confidence to engage senior leaders, technology teams and external suppliers.
  • An analytical, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
  • HBO or WO level education. A qualification in knowledge, information, or procurement management would be desired, and qualifications in project or risk management would be a plus.
