Job Description

The role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced knowledge lawyer to join our Funds team in New York. This role is intended to support our Funds team by providing practice support, knowledge management, AI adoption support, horizon scanning, thought leadership and training.

Key Responsibilities:

Practice Support:

  • Provide precedent and resource recommendations, legal research, and guidance on a wide variety of fund matters
  • Coordinate with the firm’s opinion committee to update and maintain the legal opinion template
  • Facilitate access to the firm’s resources and services, including recommending lawyers with relevant expertise in other groups or offices

Knowledge Management:

  • Collect, curate, and make easily accessible a collection of precedents, templates, checklists, and other know-how materials relevant to fund matters
  • Collaborate with lawyers across the firm’s network on firm-wide knowledge management initiatives

AI Adoption Support:

  • Help drive a fully AI-enabled culture within our Funds team by working with lawyers and the legal technology team to identify use cases for AI/other tech solutions in our private fund work
  • Assist with reviewing/piloting third party tech solutions (in conjunction with the legal technology teams)

Horizon Scanning:

  • Regularly follow key information sources to identify relevant litigation/SEC enforcement, regulatory, and market developments, trends, risks, and best practices
  • Provide relevant updates to the group periodically and on an ad hoc basis via newsletters, emails, and team meetings

Thought Leadership:

  • Produce client briefings, blog posts, conference presentations, and other types of thought leadership pieces to provide valuable resources to our clients and enhance the firm’s reputation
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives by contributing substantive content to pitches and other client-facing materials

Training:

  • Organize and deliver training on a range of relevant topics and developments, both internally and to clients
  • Coordinate applications for NY CLE credit and ensure related requirements are met 
  • Provide tailored training to new joiners and curate accessible training opportunities and resources relevant to fund matters

 

Qualifications

Your experience

The ideal applicant will possess the following qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited US law school
  • Admitted to the New York Bar
  • Knowledge of the funds space is vital, with at least five years of experience practicing law in fund formation, ideally closed-ended, private fund structures and related regulatory considerations
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Ability to create, manage, and update legal precedents, templates, and other knowledge resources
  • Experienced in organizing and producing training sessions, briefing and presentation for lawyers and clients on a broad range of legal topics

Other preferred skills and competencies include:

  • Must be proactive and self-motivated
  • Ability to identify team needs and develop plans or strategies to address such needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other professionals

Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $230,000-$285,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
