Civitas is a small, high-performing, fully remote team of public health and health care association management professionals who are working to build our new organization both to serve our 170+ member organizations across the country and to deliver on our mission. Our members represent regional health improvement collaboratives, regional and statewide health information exchanges, all-payer claims databases, health data organizations, and affiliated organizations. Our federal and national grant-funded programs focus on multi-site data-driven approaches to advance health and health equity. Though the team is small, the national network reaches 95% of the United States. The ideal person to serve in this role is looking for an opportunity to grow within a dynamic nonprofit organization with an important mission and is interested in developing subject-matter expertise in Civitas’ areas of focus.  

Job Description

Position Summary  

This is a full-time specialist-level position to support curation, development, and dissemination of content to our Network members and partners. The ideal candidate will have experience with content creation and design, and is comfortable utilizing programs for web, print, social media, and multimedia. The Content and Dissemination Specialist should also be passionate about relationship building, possess good judgment, and be adaptable and self-aware.  

This position may be term limited and is funded by one or more grant programs. While Civitas Networks for Health will always seek to offer continued employment to valued team members when grants and programs end, this position will be funded on a yearly basis to start. This means that the term of employment may be limited to one year.  

The Content and Dissemination Specialist will report directly to the Senior Director, Network Engagement and work closely across teams within the organization. Though not required, the ideal candidate will have a background in health care, health policy, or public health communications.  

Responsibilities 

  • Support the Civitas communications team with identification, curation, creation and spread of industry content for the full Civitas membership and assigned programs. 

  • Manage day-to-day use of Cerkl communications tool which includes the Civitas newsletter and member email communications. 

  • Write draft content for grant initiative deliverables as needed as well as content to feature Civitas member’s work, their staff, and important initiatives as identified by the Senior Director, Network Engagement, or other key team members.  

  • Coordinate across teams on design and development of collateral including landing pages, audio/video materials, brochures, two pagers, presentations, etc. while ensuring brand consistency. 

  • Provide event support as needed which may include event promotion, hosting assistance, and post-event communications for In-person and virtual events or Civitas councils and workgroups. 

  • Monitor and report monthly engagement activity for the Civitas newsletter, social media, website, and virtual events. Utilizes functionality within Salesforce to generate engagement reports 

  • Develop and iterate on a web content strategy as part of a team to support the organization’s goals and initiatives, including establishing internal best practices for content development, and SEO on website. Assist with monitoring, auditing, and updating the Civitas website. 

  • Analyze user feedback and activity to enhance the user experience as it relates to the website, newsletter, and emails.  

  • Other duties as assigned (i.e., special projects, conferences/events, operations etc.). 

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in communications, media, marketing, business administration or in a healthcare/public health related field; or equivalent work experience. 

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a communications or content management/dissemination role, including writing, social media, digital content management, email, basic visual and UX/UI design, and basic WordPress and web management.  

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex messages into action-oriented communications and to develop and implement communications strategies and materials for diverse audiences.   

  • Demonstrated proficiency with content management tools and CRMs such as WordPress, Salesforce, and HubSpot; web analytics tools such as Google Analytics; and design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva. Comfort and experience with remote communications tools such as Slack and Zoom.  

  • Demonstrated proficiency with basic digital marketing, social media management, and principles of search engine optimization.  

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, creative and curious approach to your work, and superior organizational and project coordination skills to manage and implement a variety of concurrent projects across multiple initiatives.  

Additional Information

Compensation 

  • Salary range: $55-$65K/year for the full-time position depending on qualifications and experience and eligible for a performance-based bonus.

Location and Travel Requirements 

  • This is a fully remote position with occasional travel requirements. 

  • Our team primarily works East Coast hours (Maine, DC/Maryland, Michigan, Florida, and Georgia), and the expectation is that this person will be available during East Coast core hours of 9 AM – 5 PM EST. 

  • While the position is fully remote (no physical home office), employees must have a private and reasonably quiet place to work with consistent and fast internet and phone access.
