Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a self-directed, energetic, civically-minded individual who wants to apply their curriculum design, adult learning, and facilitation skills to building organizational capacity in the public sector. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver training offerings that help public servants get comfortable with large-scale digital transformation and change management initiatives.

You will be primarily focused on one large client with the opportunity to take on additional client work as it becomes available. Your primary client for 2019 will be a large local municipality that is implementing a new ERP (enterprise resource planning) software (Tyler Technologies) citywide.  The training manager will get up to speed on the technology quickly, design the curriculum, select the best delivery methods, and coordinate the training of all city employees.  

The ideal candidate will be passionate about bringing innovation to the public and nonprofit sectors and will have excellent management, interpersonal, organizational, facilitation and communication skills. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Training

You will design, organize and deliver trainings that meet the needs of individuals within municipalities. This may include:

  • Conducting one-on-one stakeholder interviews to inform custom trainings
  • Understanding how workflows might change with new technologies
  • Reimagining “as-is” and “to-be” processes directly with stakeholders who do the work
  • Getting users trained on specific platforms (in this case, TylerMunis - integrated ERP solution)
  • Prepare class documentation and materials
  • Coordinate workshops, line up teachers, and book venues
  • Teach live and/or web-based classes

Project Management

  • Be comfortable leading complex projects and being the direct point of contact for external clients
  • Have excellent time management, delegation, and leadership skills

Qualifications

THE BARE MINIMUM

  • You have completed your Bachelor’s degree and/or a higher degree, ideally in an education-related field
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience with the design and delivery of adult learning
  • You are well-versed in a variety of adult learning theories and practices

PREFERRED

  • You have worked in government or have been government-adjacent 
  • You have experience with the Tyler Munis product
  • You have experience with ERP implementation across a municipality (or other proprietary software applications)
  • You have experience with software documentation

  • You have experience identifying and interviewing stakeholders and using co-creation tools
  • You are located in the Bay Area and able to travel to cities within the region, specifically the East Bay

Additional Information

COMPENSATION 
Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.  We expect to pay between $50 and $75 an hour. The position will begin as a contract position at 20 - 30 hours per week with the potential to grow into a permanent, full-time position after a 6-month performance evaluation and needs assessment.  

LOCATION
You will work out of our sunny San Francisco office on the top floor of Impact Hub San Francisco, a co-working space for impact-driven entrepreneurs located in the Mission District, one block from 16th Street BART station. You will also travel to client sites (primarily in the East Bay to start) to deliver trainings which we anticipate to be at least 50% of your time for this position.
