The Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity (CEO) provides leadership on issues of economic justice by advancing racial equity and inclusive growth to ensure that all Philadelphians share in the city’s prosperous future and by alleviating the immediate impact of poverty on individuals, families and communities.  CEO is Philadelphia’s Community Action Agency (CAA); CAAs are private or public agencies created by the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act and federally designated to receive Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding.

Job Description

The Engagement Partnerships team provides partners with support in equitable engagement practices through training, consulting, convening partners and administering engagement support systems to City departments, community leaders and groups, nonprofits and AmeriCorps programs. The Engagement Consulting Manager will develop and lead the strategy for engagement consulting with city staff and CEO partners.

Essential Functions

Lead the management of consulting with external and internal partners around equitable engagement

  • Develop a strategy and standard materials for consultations with external and internal partners, including an assessment to determine which tools and trainings could best support them
  • Develop standards for recording partners’ needs and interest and communicating requests for support to the Engagement Partnerships team
  • Align all consulting materials and processes to the Equitable Engagement toolkit principals.
  • Assess and record partners’ engagement needs
  • Plan for partner retention, reengagement, and escalation
  • Manage high-priority requests from partners
  • Supervise, support, and build the capacity of the Support Systems Engagement Coordinator and Engagement Consulting Coordinator

Connect consulting partners to additional resources and CEO staff supports to improve their equitable engagement

  • Communicate expectations for partners in setting up consulting agreements and work with CEO teams to manage any formal contracts or MOUs
  • Track progress/status of consulting projects across team
  • Oversee the strategy of engagement of NGP VAN and peer to peer texting tool and communicate strategy with CEO’s data team
  • Connect City partners who wish to engage with NGP VAN and peer-to-peer texting services with CEO’s data team

Develop long term strategy around the sustainability of consulting projects

  • Develop relationships and partnerships that support the objectives to enhance equitable engagement practices across our audiences
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential partners/funders

Implement and enact strategy for VolunteerMatch/Mayor’s Volunteer Portal and the AmeriCorps Financial Empowerment Services

  • Maintain the process and standards of the VolunteerMatch/ Mayor’s Volunteer Portal and AmeriCorps Financial Empowerment Services
  • Develop partnerships and additional resources to support and expand Mayor’s Volunteer Portal and the AmeriCorps Financial Empowerment Services
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Three to five years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience managing equity-centered culture change projects in complex community-based or institutional organizations.
  • Three to five years of experience with community engagement or consulting experience.
  • Experience working with AmeriCorps or national service programs
  • Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Action oriented; an individual not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get into the details of the operation.
  • Ability to operationalize a shared vision
  • Excellent time management skills with capacity to work simultaneously on multiple tasks and projects and deliver on deadline.
  • Comfort working with data and digital systems

Work-Life

Working hours are generally 37.5 hours per week. Our team is currently hybrid with both virtual and in-office days, however the position can opt to come in the office each day if desired

Qualifications

 

  • 3-5 years experience in project/program management
  • 3-5 years experience with community engagement or consulting
  • Experience, familiarity and comfort with starting new projects/initiatives
  • Experience launching and managing new programs

Supervisory Responsibilities

  •  Responsible for the supervision of the Engagement Support Systems Coordinator and Engagement Consulting Coordinator

Other Specialties, Certifications, Physical Requirements, and Work Conditions

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required
  • Successful candidate must be a city of Philadelphia resident within six months of hire

Salary Range: $65,000 - $72,000
