The Philadelphia Airport is a dynamic place to work. It is the only major airport serving the 7th largest metropolitan area in the United States and is one of the busiest airports in the country. The City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation oversees both Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Northeast Airport (PNE), the city’s general aviation reliever airport. Job Description

The City of Philadelphia’s Department of Aviation (DOA) has designed a structured internship program benefiting college students to expose them to aviation careers and help build skills for our future workforce. The DOA’s Internship Program provides a unique employment experience at the Philadelphia International Airport. This opportunity supports students throughout the region by providing access to professional development and support as they prepare to enter the workforce.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the collection of information for reports and statistical research
  • Special projects
  • Research
  • Policy Review
  • Administrative tasks

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to conduct research
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Work-Life

Full-time, hybrid and/or in-person work schedules are available Monday-Friday.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

College - All college levels

Additional requirements:

  • Latest transcript.
  • Complete and meet all federally mandated requirements including criminal history records check, Security Threat Assessment (STA), and Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Training.
  • Applicants age18 years and older must complete a medical assessment including a drug test and an Indebtedness check.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Hourly Range: $15-$15.56 

*The successful candidate must be a city of Philadelphia resident within six months of hire
