Job Description

The Promise Corps Manager leads and oversees the implementation of the Promise Corps program at 4+ high school sites inclusive of direct management of 2+ staff members and 15+ AmeriCorps members. The Promise Corps Manager maintains strong working relationships with school leaders, program partners, funders and all city departments and staff. This position is responsible for the overall vision and strategy for program implementation, growth and funding with specific attention to AmeriCorps funding and program growth.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and coach Site Supervisors and Corps Members to ensure integrity in the implementation of the Promise Corps college and career readiness program in 4+ Philadelphia high schools
  • Track data and evaluate effectiveness of Promise Corps program outputs towards goals and student outcomes
  • Collaborate with Principals, teachers, school staff and district contacts to increase conditions for success within school buildings working to support students most at risk of dropping out of school 
  • Fundraise for the Promise Corps annual operating budget and additional projects
  • Maintain compliance with all grant funds and reporting with specific attention to AmeriCorps and federal funding 
  • Responsible for AmeriCorps member life cycle beginning with recruitment, onboarding, training, site placement, retention and off boarding at end of term
  • Build and grow the Promise Corps brand internally and externally of Philadelphia focused on sustainability
  • Manage and develop strategic partners to support Promise Corps’ strategy to develop a strong, college and career ready youth workforce
  • Build and grow the Career Pathways program a pilot program lead by Promise Corps in partnership with PYN
  • Provide supervision, leadership, motivation, team building, conflict resolution and support to Promise Corps Site Supervisors and Career Pathways staff
  • Gather and maintain evaluation records pertaining to program performance, particularly in regard to impact on high school students

Qualifications

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in career readiness and youth engagement work required
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in program management with direct responsibility for staff members and budgeting and/or fundraising
  • Knowledge or experience with working directly with youth in urban communities
  • A valid PA driver’s license required
  • Must be comfortable and confident commuting in and around Philadelphia via public transit and in a vehicle

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Dynamic, committed individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Managing a program and/or supervising people, preferably in a school setting
  • Knowledge of college and career preparation objectives and standards
  • Significant experience collecting and analyzing quantitative data
  • Experience with AmeriCorps programming and/or past AmeriCorps program participant preferred
  • Readiness and ability to create and lead professional development/training sessions for groups 20+
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms and website creation and content management  
  • Experience with procurement processes
  • Ability and commitment to work beyond traditional working hours and schedule is required
