Job Description

The Assistant Director of Marketing will support in the planning, development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and promotions program for revenue-generating programs at Philadelphia International Airport, including working closely with airport stakeholders, brands, partners and the City of Philadelphia. The position will help identify, deepen understanding of, and more relevantly reach distinct audiences and plan multichannel campaigns to drive increased revenue and passenger engagement. This role will assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies and campaigns, copy development, advertising and consumer research needs. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and in team environments. This position will report to the Director of Marketing and Branding.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and direct marketing strategies to meaningfully grow revenue using a broad range of tactics: digital insights, social graph, events and outreach, prospecting, media exposure, surveys, etc.
  • Develop multichannel marketing campaigns
    • Develop campaign strategy
    • Define and track success indicators
    • Develop campaign and creative briefs designed to create a clear vision and expectations, as well as equip partners to execute on the campaign
    • Oversee the development of copy/creative that meets specs and clearly communicates with the target audience in a relevant way
  • Manage and coordinate resources including in-house team and external agency vendors
  • Manage advertising placements with vendors, selecting locations and art based on audience and campaign priorities
  • Collaborate with Revenue team partners, including airlines and master concessionaire, to ensure development of cohesive marketing campaigns, including identifying shared priorities, supporting execution of partner programs, providing strategic inputs to and feedback on their marketing activities and giving feedback on creative and execution
  • Manage marketing team promotions calendar, identifying campaigns and topics for promotion, prioritizing activities, and communicating campaigns and details to internal and external stakeholders
    • Work with public affairs team to include key events in digital channels including social media and website content
  • Manage development and execution of all assigned marketing campaigns and events, including taking and circulating notes at meetings, developing timelines, assigning action items to – and tracking completion of action items by -- partners, tracking success, managing budget and resources and attending events
  • Report on campaigns, creating Excel documents and PowerPoint presentations that capture results and can be shared
  • Own website and Newsroom content development for Revenue-related topics
    • Write news articles
    • Brief other team members so they can write articles
    • Partner with video team when video is needed
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of business projects determined by the Airport’s strategic plan or other operational needs
  • Develop insights around key consumer segments with a focus on digital presence
  • Perform analytical research and reports evaluating customer trends and Airport industry practices

Qualifications

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, including experience in strategy, campaign planning, digital and consumer insights
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills
  • Record of establishing and growing relationships with business partners
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and collateral content development – including writing and editing pieces
  • Experience with Consumer Insight or Market Research preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated passion for the Philadelphia International Airport and the Greater Philadelphia Region
  • Experience working in a tourism, hospitality or airport environment is ideal, but not required
  • Experience establishing or re-establishing a brand
  • Completion of an MBA or certification is ideal, but not required

  • Customer insights and audience segmentation.
  • Generate actionable insights about audiences that allow you to reach customers relevantly throughout their journey.
  • Critiquing marketing and creative tactics and providing constructive feedback.
  • Project management skills. Ability to lead cross-functional partners.
  • Working independently under broad guidance, taking ownership of projects and working collaboratively with peers, subordinates, and superiors.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, including both PowerPoint and Excel
  • Build relationships and trust within the organization and with partners; and work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Utilize strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication skills to facilitate timely completion of project deliverables
  • Plan, coordinate and implement several concurrent projects involving significant visibility and complexity
  • Possess an inquisitive and competitive nature, desire to understand competitors, consumers, and PHL/PNE airport operations
  • Uncover and drive opportunities to innovate, and keep pace with changes in customer expectations and behavior
  • Utilize effective communication and planning techniques to secure the cooperation of internal and external leaders in support of assigned projects
  • Establish credibility and productive working relationships with a diverse team of colleagues, officials, vendors, business partners and other stakeholders
  • Consistently deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic working environment
