AGENCY DESCRIPTION

This position is deployed to the Department of Public Property, however it is hired through the auspices of the Chief Administrative Office. The Department of Public Property is responsible for all capital projects and facilities maintenance for the City of Philadelphia. Public Property is responsible for the implementation plan for all construction, renovations and space planning of City owned buildings and public facilities. DPP serves the City’s workforce and community by providing quality facilities and work spaces of which we are proud.

Job Description

Salary: Commensurate with experience

The Construction Project Manager will work with the executive team on various assigned construction projects. This position will be primarily responsible for planning and management of renovation projects ensuring that quality and proper construction standards are utilized for the projects from conception to completion. Additionally, reviewing project schedules, reviewing submittals and mockups, assessing deliverables and cost estimates, reviewing bills for accuracy prior to approving for payment, preparing reports and analyzing and managing risks for the City are significant aspects of this position. Coordination of FF & E, working directly with clients, ensuring that projects run efficiently and enforcing safety measures and company regulations are also required functions. This position will direct consultant and contractors working on the project.

Example projects include: Overseeing 400 North Broad Street from conception to completion"

Essential Functions:

  • Project management experience on multi-million dollar construction renovations
  • Problem solving-understanding current challenges and possible solutions
  • Data analysis – using computer software to both understand the problem and assess effectiveness of proposed solution
  • Communication – summarize projects/solutions in a way that is clear to many different audiences throughout the city and to external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Minimum of  10 years in construction management renovating large building for multiple business use
