What You'll Be Doing
The duties of the Business Analyst will include, but are not limited to:
- Building strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders to understand business needs and desired outcomes.
- Eliciting, analysing, documenting and managing business, functional and process requirements.
- Conducting workshops, interviews and stakeholder engagement activities to gather and validate requirements.
- Reviewing and assessing current business processes to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency and automation.
- Developing process maps, business cases, options analyses and implementation recommendations.
- Supporting the design of future-state processes, systems and operating models.
- Assessing the impacts of proposed changes and supporting organisational change activities.
- Collaborating with project teams, solution architects, vendors and subject matter experts to ensure business requirements are understood and delivered.
- Supporting testing, implementation and business readiness activities to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Providing advice and insights that assist the City in making informed decisions and delivering sustainable business improvement.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a collaborative and analytical Business Analyst who is passionate about understanding business needs, improving processes and delivering meaningful organisational outcomes. You will be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, facilitating discussions, analysing complex issues and translating business requirements into practical solutions.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong business analysis and process improvement skills.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience facilitating workshops, gathering information and translating business needs into actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated understanding of business processes, systems, data and technology concepts.
- A current National Police Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
About You
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.
- IT or business-related tertiary qualification or demonstrated relevant experience.
- Possession of relevant industry certification (e.g. PMI-PBA, AgileBA or IIBA certification) or equivalent deemed experience.
- Strong business and process analysis skills, business process mapping and re-engineering.
- Extensive experience in requirement elicitation, gathering, documentation and management.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Critical thinking skills, ability to identify, report, design and scope changes to deliver business improvement or system improvement.
- Demonstrated ability and experience to establish effective working partnerships with a strong customer service focus.
- Functional and conceptual understanding of technical issues and solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues and concepts on business solutions.
- Demonstrated ability in workshop facilitation and presentation.
- Knowledge of Business Process Model & Notation (BPMN).
