Why You’ll Love This Role
Join the City of Stirling’s Beach Services team and help keep our coastline safe, welcoming and enjoyable for residents and visitors. In this frontline role, you’ll monitor beach and ocean conditions, provide preventative lifesaving services, respond to incidents and emergencies, and promote safe swimming practices across the City’s beaches.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Monitor beach and surf conditions, identify hazards and maintain patron safety
- Perform rescues, provide first aid and respond to emergency incidents
- Promote beach safety, including safe swimming practices and hazard awareness
- Support compliance with relevant beach laws, regulations and policies
- Maintain beach safety equipment and report hazards, damage or unsafe practices
- Complete incident records, daily reports and liaise with emergency and marine safety groups as required
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for an experienced and highly capable lifeguard who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly with beach patrons and work confidently in surf conditions. You’ll bring:
- SLSA IRB Drivers Certificate, Bronze Medallion and Advanced Resuscitation Certificate, or equivalents
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate, driver’s licence and National Police Clearance
- Considerable professional lifeguard or voluntary surf lifesaving patrol experience
- Strong fitness, swimming ability and confidence in deep water, including annual fitness testing
- Knowledge of lifeguarding protocols, beach regulations and safety guidelines
- Strong communication, judgement and emergency response skills
