Job Description

At the City of Stirling, you’ll play a key role in shaping the places our community calls home. You’ll work with an engaged, supportive team committed to great planning outcomes, while enjoying flexibility, professional development, and an organisation that genuinely invests in its people.

This role gives you the chance to contribute meaningfully to the future of WA’s largest local government and use your planning expertise to influence the built environment across diverse neighbourhoods.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will:

  • Respond to written and verbal planning enquiries
  • Provide applicant liaison and pre‑lodgement advice
  • Conduct inspections and technical assessments
  • Undertake research and planning investigations
  • Maintain accurate statutory planning records
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and submissions
  • Assess statutory planning proposals and appeals
  • Investigate potential breaches of planning laws

Qualifications

We’re looking for a motivated planning professional passionate about quality development and great community outcomes. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in town planning or related field
  • Knowledge of statutory planning principles and practice
  • Ability to make sound, accountable planning decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of planning legislation and processes
  • Experience in local government statutory planning
  • Ability to negotiate and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Current driver’s licence and National Police Clearance
