Job Description

Responsible professional, administrative, and technical library position with supervisory and administrative responsibility.  Responsible for overseeing Circulation Services and assigned staff. Duties involve a variety of tasks which require the application of independent judgment, creative thinking, and administrative knowledge and skills.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Handles patron complaints and concerns professionally and courteously, in accordance with library policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for completing library’s opening and closing procedures, as assigned.
  • Ensures circulation desk is properly staffed and provides accurate and courteous customer service.
  • Ensures employees under their supervision are meeting or exceeding performance expectations.
  • Ensures patron Code of Conduct compliance and de-escalates patron situations calmly and rationally, calling upon the Library Director and/or campus security when necessary.
  • Responsible for the management and processing, in accordance with established City Policies and procedures, monies from overdue fines, lost and damaged items, donations, etc.; manages the Library’s petty cash fund.

The pay range for the position is: $44, 727.57 - $64,855.00/annually

Qualifications

Graduation  from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree.   Minimum of five  (5) years experience in a multiple service library, with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience required.   Considerable knowledge of the practices, principles, and methods of library operations with considerable knowledge of circulation functions. Ability to schedule, plan, organize, and direct the activities of a large staff of assigned circulation employees.  Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to analyze facts and exercise judgment and decision making. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to serve library users and personnel with courtesy, patience and professionalism. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other library and city employees and professional colleagues.
