As the Engineering Manager, you’ll supervise the Public Works Engineering Division staff, oversee engineering design of building and site improvements and manage the preparation and ongoing maintenance of the City corporate map. You’ll also evaluate and determine suitability of construction materials proposed for use in public improvement projects, meet with engineers, architects, developers, and contractors to discuss projects, ordinances and policies and serve as the supervising manager to offer recommendations to the department head on hiring, promotions and discipline.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher education from an accredited college or university in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Technology; or a related engineering or engineering technology field
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Colorado, or the demonstrated ability to obtain such registration within six (6) months of appointment to the position
  • Six (6) years of experience in professional design engineering, including design work in major engineering, construction, maintenance, and repair projects
  • At least one (1) year of experience supervising other professionals in the performance of their duties.
  • A valid driver’s license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of employment
    • License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification 
    • During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Municipal or related public sector engineering and/or construction management experience
  • Certification as an ADA Coordinator
  • Familiar with principles of Surveying, Cartography and Geographic Information Systems
  • Experience working collaboratively with Engineering consulting and design firms
  • Experience working collaboratively with contractor and community groups/stakeholders in project development and implementation
  • Experience in municipal planning and zoning
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Colorado
  • A Master’s Degree or higher education from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
  • 10+ years of experience in professional design engineering, including design work in major engineering, construction, maintenance, and repair projects
