Job Description

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships.

The Management Orders and Directives Section analyzes, reviews, proposes and publishes Department Policies and procedures and maintains the Department Manual (Patrol Guide), Administrative Guide, Detective Guide and Organization Guide. The Office of Management Analysis (OMAP) is the research and assessment arm of the Department, comprised of both uniform and civilian members of the service with a wide variety of academic and professional experiences. OMAP conducts analyses aimed at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department.

OMAP is seeking a qualified candidate to perform the duties which include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze and make recommendations regarding ongoing computerization of Department filing systems.
- Assist with maintaining the Department Manual, design and production, as well as authorized destruction of Department forms, reports and other records.
- Respond to inquiries from Department units regarding current or historical Department directives.
- Respond to legal processes relating to Department policies and procedures.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
