Job Description

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) keeps New York City clean, safe, and healthy by collecting, recycling, and disposing of waste, cleaning City streets and vacant lots, and clearing snow and ice. DSNY is the nation's largest municipal sanitation agency, with nearly 10,000 employees, 59 district garages, and a fleet of more than 5,000 trucks, cars, and other types of equipment. The Department clears litter, snow, and ice from approximately 6,500 miles of City streets and removes debris from vacant lots as well as abandoned vehicles from City streets.

DSNY is seeking a Project Coordinator to join the Bureau of Public Affairs (BPA) within the Project Management unit. DSNY has several major new strategic initiatives that this candidate will be heavily involved with. Reporting to the Director of Project Management, the candidate will responsibly plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and/or evaluate the production of print and promotional products supporting our programs. Duties will include but not be limited to:

- Manage internal and external communications for Bureau projects, including print production, promotional materials, and media-buying initiatives.
- Coordinate project workflows between graphic designers, program managers, agency leadership, and external vendors to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet established deadlines.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project production timelines while tracking approvals and deliverables.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the agency and contracted vendors throughout the production process.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to staff on production implementation and project management with the best practices.
- Recommend process improvements, policies, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and project delivery.
- Handle correspondence and provide professional customer service through email and telephone communications.
- Support additional Bureau of Public Affairs initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
