The successful candidate will serve as an Emergency Communications Senior Engineer reporting to the Public Safety Division. Responsibilities will include:
- Deploy, configure, test, and support mission-critical Emergency Communications network infrastructure, including data center equipment, telecommunications systems, and associated cabling.
- Provide technical support for E9-1-1, NG9-1-1, Text-to-911 (TT911), RTT, SMS/MMS, and Public Safety Unified Communications services.
- Support and oversee ESInet, call routing, selective routing, location-based routing, and emergency communications transport services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve communication system outages, network failures, routing issues, and service disruptions affecting 9-1-1 operations.
- Coordinate with telecommunications carriers, Originating Service Providers, neighboring jurisdictions, relay centers, and third-party vendors to ensure reliable emergency communications services.
- Support 9-1-1 and TT911 testing environments, execute test plans, validate results, and assist with system acceptance activities.
- Manage and maintain emergency communications technology assets, documentation, and infrastructure inventories.
- Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and provide recommendations for service improvements and resiliency enhancements.
- Provide technical oversight of vendors supporting emergency communications infrastructure and telecommunications services.
- Participate in on-call support, maintenance activities, and emergency response efforts to support critical public safety operations on a 24 X 7 basis.
- Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.

HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary technical duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
