NYC Fleet manages all NYC vehicles, equipment, fuel, leasing, and related services. The City’s fleet includes over 28,500 vehicles, costs over $1 billion annually, and involves nearly 1,800 full time staff. NYC implements nation leading programs in sustainability, including electric cars and biofuels, as well as in fleet safety, shared services, telematics, and fleet efficiency.

The Fleet Auction Inspector reports to the Director of Auction. DCAS conducts public auctions of used and older fleet vehicles and equipment. Auction inspectors will handle all fieldwork tied to the program, including inspection and preparation of vehicles for public auction, site coordination with agencies, tow coordination with vendors and customers, and estimating auction revenue. Inspectors will assist with emergency management tied to vehicle damage events.

Responsibilities will include the following:

- Attend meetings and conference calls, and prepare relevant reports.
- Conduct vendor and agency site visits, vehicle inspections, minor troubleshooting, and agency decal removal/cover
- Coordination on agency/vendor/buyer logistics and documentation
- Make vehicle salvage recommendations
- Estimate minimum bids using online resources and historical data
- Coordination of operations with agencies, vendors, and customers, including vehicle tow-away.
- Documentation download, retention, and maintenance of all sales materials
- Perform related work.
- Assist with general fleet and agency initiatives.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
