NYC Parks is the steward of more than 30,000 acres of land – 14 percent of New York City – including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 65 public pools, 51 recreational facilities, 15 nature centers, 14 golf courses and 14 miles of beaches. Major Responsibilities
- Under general direction, supervise the maintenance, alteration, repair, erection and dismantling of structures and equipment pertinent to departmental operations.
- Review and assist in the development of Project Work orders with Citywide Project Managers.
- Supervise the development of project plans that include cost estimates including material, equipment and labor costs based upon plans, specifications and/or plans provided by Citywide Project Managers.
- Responsible for the purchasing of materials and equipment to avoid cost and schedule overruns. the scheduling of multiple trades,
- Prepare work schedules and assignments.
- Manage and supervise the work of skilled craftsmen, helpers and other assigned staff to ensure product quality, timeline and site safety meet standards.
- Ensure all administrative tasks are entered into the Parks Asset Management Parks System (AMPS) as per Parks guidelines.
- Monitor staff for disciplinary requirements and take appropriate action as needed.
- Estimate annual budget requirements. Prepare job orders and requisition materials.
- Inspect job sites and equipment to determine the need for repair, alteration and maintenance.
- Check jobs in progress and complete work assignments for compliance with work standards, job orders, codes and specifications.
- Maintain basic records and prepare reports.
- Open, assign, close and follow-up on the status of work orders in the Asset Management Parks System (AMPS).
- Approve all staff timesheets using City-time.
- Communicate with Senior and Field Management to ensure that priorities are correctly established.

1. Seven years of recent, full-time, satisfactory experience in a pertinent craftsman title, at least two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent.
