Job Description

Under direct supervision, selected candidate will assist in the routine maintenance, operation and repair of public buildings and structures and the equipment they contain; conduct visual inspections as well as written inspection of buildings that contain equipment related to electrical devices and low voltage equipment; and perform related work such as driving to and from work sites.

Specific duties shall include, but not limited to the following:

1. Maintain, adjust, and make minor repairs of building electrical devices, related CCTV equipment as well as building hardware and equipment.
2. Make minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring, and walls.
3. Make minor repairs to building electrical, plumbing in common areas and satellite Office of Safety and Security offices.
4. Assist in relocating building equipment as directed.
5. Visually inspect public buildings, structures and equipment to assess and check for defects, malfunctions and hazardous conditions.
6. Prepare reports and keep records.
7. Assist various law enforcement entities, and other Governmental agencies, with investigations and video evidence as required.
8. Appear and testify in court as to the authenticity of the video.
9. Operate a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites.
10. Remove and install equipment that requires lifting and moving.
11. Respond to after-hours, nights, weekend, holidays emergencies for Office of Safety and Security.

- This posting is for a 5-borough NYCHA wide position for the Office of Safety and Security; and selected candidate can be placed at any Satellite Office.
- A valid NYS Motor Vehicle Driver's License is required for this position.

Qualifications

1. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson or helper in the electrical trades, the mechanical trades, or the construction or maintenance of buildings; or

2. At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades in a trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of experience will be credited for each year of full-time acceptable training or education.
