Job Description
The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. By recognizing these significant distinctions and acting accordingly, BXDA has established a standard of excellence in the representation of the Bronx community at large, which continues to grow stronger every day.
In furtherance of this mission, the Crime Strategies Bureau (CSB), located within the Strategic Innovations Division, works closely with the New York Police Department, other law enforcement agencies, and members of the community to identify groups and individuals most responsible for committing crimes that impact our community, with a specific focus on violent crime. The CSB is seeking an Intelligence Analyst, Level II who will be responsible for providing CSB with investigative, analytical, and investigative support.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares multimedia-based demonstrative exhibits to be used in Grand Jury and at Trial.
Testifies in Grand Jury and at Trial regarding prepared demonstrative exhibits, if the need arises.
Prepares crime briefings for the District Attorney, Executive Staff, and external stakeholders.
Assists in training Intelligence Analysts and Trial Preparation Assistants in various analyst techniques/skills (for example, Rikers Calls analysis); and/or
Serves as an embedded analyst in specialized Bureaus within BXDA, facilitating in the collection of data and preparation of comprehensive reports.
Other duties as assigned to support the Strategic Innovations Division.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in forensic financial analysis, business, economics, finance, history, international studies, logistics, management, political science, psychology, public administrations, sociology, statistics or a closely related field.
- Three years of satisfactory full-time professional experience working in criminal intelligence investigations, international research, intelligence database monitoring and analysis, computer aided mapping or geographic information system technology or a closely related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Advanced Excel experience (pivot tables, charts, functions, etc.) preferred.
- Strong skillset in data mapping, including geocoding; photo editing.
- Quick learner regarding new technology tools and software.
- Experience using Photoshop; ArcGIS; i2 Analyst Notebook; Palantir; etc. a plus.
- Capable of building institutional relationships with community residents and organizations, police, and other law enforcement agencies.
- Ability to effectively communicate investigative results to other team members and to testify in court if necessary.
- Criminal justice system experience preferred.
- Must be able to adhere to strict requirements regarding legal records management, data protection, and privacy/confidentiality

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
