Job Description

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.

**Please note this is a temporary appointment for up to one year.**

Under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources Operations, and specifically under the supervision of the Supervisor of HR Talent, the selected candidate will provide recruitment, onboarding, tracking, and professional development support. As a Human Resources Associate, Talent, the selected candidate will receive training in and assist in the performance of the duties specified below:
- Compiling, maintaining, tracking, and reporting HR Metrics including, headcount, attrition, compliance and vacancies
- Developing and submitting job postings in EHIRE
- Reviewing candidate qualifications and forwarding qualified r sum s to hiring managers
- Collecting, reviewing, and processing candidate compliance documents
- Conducting follow-ups to ensure candidates are accomplishing onboarding milestones within set timeframes
- Conducting agency-specific orientation sessions
- Preparing job offers, release letters, and other correspondence
- Coordinating and attending job fairs, professional conferences, and various other recruiting events
- Planning and attending interviews as the HR representative
- Coordinating start dates with hiring managers
- Coordinating with DOHMH for pre-employment medical processing and tracking
- Facilitating civil service list actions
- Submitting promotions and salary increases in EHIRE
- Supports the Compliance, Training, and Internship programs
- Establishing and maintaining rapport with OCME’s HR Partners, e.g. DOHMH, DCAS, other agencies, etc.
- Collecting DNA samples for new employees, interns, volunteers, etc.
- Operating agency vehicles as an OCME Agency Driver for HR and recruitment related events
- Other duties as assigned

**A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for certain assignments. This license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment. **

Qualifications

1. A Masters degree from an accredited college in Library Science, Archival Science, American History, Political Science, or a related area; or

2. A baccalaureate degree form an accredited college and one year full-time professional experience in archival, records management or library work; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have the baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
