Job Description

Under supervision, this position performs moderately difficult clerical and related office duties. The candidate will be responsible for:

- Reviewing, maintaining, processing and updating files, applications, and other Department records
- Processing customer request for records and maintain Department records as required
- Reviewing all supporting documents for processing job filings/permits/Public Assemblies
- Researching and responding to external and internal inquires received in person, and email
- Maintaining the calendars for plan exam staff which include scheduling and canceling of appointments and creating calendars for new plan exam staff in DOB Appointments, DOB Now, and meeting software
- Performing data entry transactions which include Application Process in Building Department infrastructure Building Information Systems (BIS) and CRM Software (DOB NOW)
- Assist as needed with special projects
- Provide professional customer service to the public while adhering to the agency Department’s customer service guidelines
- Assisting with daily assignment of the work as needed
- Answering public inquiries via the Department’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR)

CIVIL SERVICE STATUS
Only those permanent as Clerical Associate, applicants who are reachable on the Clerical Associate open competitive list, and applicants as indicated below will be considered.

Candidates who are permanent in comparable civil service titles may be considered for title change under rule 6.1.9 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York.

REMOTE WORK
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
