The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Printing Section provides print materials upon request by the NYPD. The Printing Section is a full service in-plant print facility comparable to any commercial printer in the private sector. There three (3) methods of printing offered, inkjet, digital and conventional offset. The Printing Section handles design work, print production finishing and distribution.
With general guidance and direction,
- Exercise. of initiative, judgment, creative abilities to conceptualize,
- Initiates and executes a wide variety of graphic art assignments.
- Engaged personnel in various aspects of such work.
In addition to performing the work described in Assignment Level I, Tasks such as:
Maps, books, pamphlets, annual reports, posters, presentations, ceremonial invitations and certificates, flyer, stationery items, signage and displays in buildings and structures.
Selects media and processes as required.

Qualifications
(1) A baccalaureate degree, with a major in fine or graphic arts, from an accredited college and one year of full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist; or
(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of training in a technical school approved by a state’s Department of Education or comparable governmental agency, in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout, computer graphics, and other art media, and three years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist.
To be qualified for assignment to Assignment Level II, individuals must have:
(a) at least one year of experience as a Graphic Artist, Assignment Level I; or
(b) the Qualification Requirements described in "1" or "2" above, plus two additional years of acceptable specialized paid experience conceptualizing and initiating graphic art projects.
