About the Team:

The Construction Professional and Zoning Compliance Unit, which encompasses the Licensee Disciplinary Unit, the Padlock and Signs Unit, and the Special Enforcement Team, is seeking an extern starting in January 2025. This program provides first-hand experience in understanding the legal processes involved in investigating, adjudicating, and enforcing violations concerning construction, occupancy, zoning, or maintenance issues found in the NYC Administrative Code, Construction Codes, Zoning Resolution, and the New York State Multiple Dwelling Law.

NOTE: This summer internship is for up to 13 weeks, starting from the first day of the internship and ending no later than September 5, 2025. Interns are expected to work 35 hours per week in person.

Position Responsibilities
- Under the direction and supervision of the Administrative Litigation Counsel, the Legal Construction Professional and Zoning Compliance Legal Intern will:
- Shadow attorneys for remote court appearances.
- Participate in investigative interviews.
- Conduct research of case law and City Codes.
- Assist in drafting of legal documents and memos.


Major/ Field of Study:
- Open to second- and third-year law school students

Demonstrated interest in one or more of the following areas:

- Public Service and Government Law
- Litigation and Administrative Law
- Investigative and Enforcement Procedures
- Construction and Zoning Regulations

Qualifications

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.
