Job Description

Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity to utilize your exceptional accounting skills? Our Finance Department is seeking a detailed, industrious professional to join their team.

You will perform a variety of accounting and customer service functions in compliance with prescribed policies, procedures and standard accounting practices. You will carry out a variety of accounting tasks primarily related to accounts payable including processing invoices and cheque requests through the accounts payable system, verifying documents for coding, authorization and validity, prepare, maintain and reconcile a verity of reports, schedules and support documents, assist with the administration of general ledger and sub ledger accounts including reconciliations, prepare and post journal entries, and respond to a variety of customer inquiries.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have high school graduation supplemented by completion of a recognized Certificate in an Accounting discipline along with two years’ experience in a demanding financial office environment, including experience in accounts payable, subsidiary ledgers and account reconciliation and analysis.

Along with your considerable knowledge of the principles, procedures, policies and regulations applicable to professional accounting practices, you must be self-motivated and task-orientated with advanced proficiency in MS Office, MAIS or similar financial software and have knowledge of EDP systems and procedures. 

Additional Information

The 2025 hourly rate of pay is $37.58, plus a comprehensive benefits package including the Municipal Pension Plan. The hours of work for this position are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday working a nine-day fortnight (one extra day off every two weeks).
