The City of Fife is seeking swim instructors / lifeguards to ensure the safety of pool patrons by monitoring swimming activities, performing lifesaving procedures and enforcing pool rules and regulations. The swim instructor/lifeguard provides basic instruction in swim lesson classes and may also perform regular clerical and cleaning duties under supervision.

The 2023 Salary for this position is $20.00 - $21.00 per hour

 

Job Description

  • Assist with supervision of volunteers and program participants.
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Communicate feedback between participants and program supervisor. Prepare necessary documentation
  • Answer public questions regarding programs and facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable City, County and State laws and City Ordinances, policies and procedures at all times
  • Perform minor maintenance and custodial duties. Lifeguard and/or teach swimming lessons
  • Communicate with City personnel, outside agencies and members of the community to exchange
  • information and resolve issues or concerns
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Perform pool chemical tests as required

Qualifications

  • As a swim instructor, no certifications are required prior to start date
  • As a Lifeguard, all required certifications must be completed and continually maintained in a current status in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Lifeguard training
  • in order to continue to be scheduled on lifeguarding rotations
  • Candidate must be at least 16 years of age
  • Uniform swim suit, safety whistle and swim goggles are required for this position
  • Candidate preferably has some experience in teaching, babysitting, working with or supervising children

  • Ensure the safety of pool patrons by monitoring swimming activities, performing lifesaving procedures and enforcing pool rules and regulations.
  • Conduct swimming classes and provide instruction to patrons of assigned City swimming programs.
  • Attend all staff-required in-services and trainings.
  • Accurately and effectively respond to the Aquatic Center's Emergency Action Plan.
