Job Description
Under the direction of the Parks, Recreation and Aquatics Director, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive events program in the City of Fife. This position will also assist the team with employee engagement, special projects, communications, economic development, marketing, advertising, design and public relations work for the City. Incumbent needs to be able to work flexible schedules including some evenings and weekends.
- Administer a comprehensive events and facility rental program to meet the needs, interests and abilities of the Fife community.
- Oversee contracts for all rentals and facility use, to include staffing.
- Function as lead worker over 5-10 Facility Monitor staff and volunteers; schedule staff hours, coordinate and provide training, monitor and evaluate staff performance.
- Conduct informational meetings with staff to communicate policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Schedule and coordinate facility use and billing.
- Monitor program participants, implement program policies and procedures, and evaluate program needs and successes.
- Assist in creation and management of social media content and other marketing materials.
- Promote events, programs and facility rentals
- Create and implement the marketing objectives of the Department.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to recruit program staff, and volunteers.
- Purchase or obtain supplies and equipment.
- Assist with procurement of outside funding opportunities through grant applications, solicitation of sponsorships and other fundraising activities for event enhancement.
- Develop effective working relationships with community groups, businesses, local/county/state agencies, and the school district.
- Monitor program budgets. Monitor and coordinate expenditures in accordance with established procedures. Meet revenue expectations.
- Prepare program documents and maintain records and reports related to program implementation, operation, attendance, expenditures, etc.
- Effectively respond to public inquiries for programs, events and rentals.
- Assist with pre-planning/coordination and on-site presence at facility trade shows/open houses that market City of Fife rental facilities.
- Register participants and customers in recreation software program for events.
- Coordinate with appropriate personnel to promote rentals.
- Assist with content management for the City website and publications.
- Works directly with media of all kinds to develop editorial placements to benefit the draw to the community.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Business, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or closely related field
- Minimum three to five years of experience in event management and marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Possession and maintenance of current certifications in CPR, First Aid and AED.
- Possession and maintenance of current Food Handler’s Permit.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a marketing related position
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Canva
