The City of Campbell River is searching for experienced Facility Services Workers to join our Recreation & Culture Team in these auxiliary, on-call positions.

Job Description

What You Will Do: You will play an important role in keeping City facilities clean and looking their best. The duties are janitorial in nature, and include, but are not limited to, washing, waxing, and polishing floors, vacuuming, and extracting carpeting, picking up supplies, cleaning washrooms, emptying waste baskets, cleaning windows, dusting, replacing burned out light bulbs, set ups for program activities and large events, and minor repairs. Facility Services Worker Job Description

What we offer: The rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $34.34 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits (this is equivalent to a wage of $38.46 per hour). The successful candidate(s) will also have access to a reduced cost Employee Wellness Pass for Recreation facilities and programs.

Hours of Work:  This is a casual, on-call position with flexible scheduling and no guaranteed hours. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, and is available to work on short notice, and is flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent 
  • Current Level I Occupational First Aid certification, including adult CPR certification.
  • Building Service Worker I Certification and 1 year previous work experience in a janitorial position (please note: if you are the successful candidate, you will be required to obtain the Building Service Worker 2 Certification within the first  6 months of employment)  
  • OR 
  • Building Service Worker 1 and 2 Certification and 6 months previous work experience in a janitorial position.

Other Requirements 

  • Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and ability to perform the work.
  • Must provide a clear police criminal record and vulnerable sectors check prior to start of employment.
  • A positive attitude and excellent customer services skills are essential in this role.
