The City of Americus operates under the City Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority are vested in the governing body which consists of a Mayor and six council members all elected on a nonpartisan basis. Council members serve four-year staggered terms, with three council members elected every two years. The Mayor is elected at large to serve a four-year term. The six council members are elected by district. The governing body is responsible for passing ordinances, adopting the budget and appointing the City Manager, Municipal Court Judge and the City Attorney. The City Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the governing body and for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the government.

Job Description

The City of Americus is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Customer Service Specialist. The salary for this position is $29,636 annually ($14.25/ hour).

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to coordinating and assisting employees engaged in billing, collections and customer service activities,  taxes and business license; assisting staff with customer relations activities; handling daily billing of customers, checking accounts to be billed, making adjustments to customer accounts, handling daily collection of payments and the application of payments to computerized customer accounts, the resolution of customer complaints, problems and requests for information; receives requests for and provides information relating to customer accounts to other City departments and outside agencies, prepares check requests for return of account credits, and performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED equivalent; Requires two year of experience in customer service, billing services or closely related experience; Required qualifications may be any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
