Job Description

Resettlement Placement – Fibre Network Planner

As the fastest-growing fibre network in the UK, you could say we’re changing things up. Not only are we unlocking the digital potential of an entire nation, but we’re also constantly evolving, to give our people the most seamless employee experience possible. We’re doing this by creating a sense of purpose among our teams and offering career development opportunities the like of which has never been seen before.

We believe the transition from a military career to CityFibre to be a natural step, whether you have completed a full term or shorter service, all the skills and behavioural traits you may not even appreciate, make you a perfect candidate for our company. Our work is fuelled by the possibility of building something better for the UK – we know that’s something you’re passionate about too.

Who is the Resettlement Programme for?

Our placements are aimed at service leavers, who are planning on leaving the military and are looking for an internship opportunity during their official resettlement period. We offer placements of between 1 – 8 weeks.

What does a Fibre Network Planner do?

Our Planners are essential to the success of our projects. They oversee the build of our network; check it’s been planned correctly and make sure our final designs reflect the final build and any adjustments we had to make along the way.

What will I be doing?

Throughout this placement, you’ll be given exposure to CityFibre, gain valuable experience and be a part of powering the UK’s Full Fibre revolution. You’ll start with the basics, working alongside our team of Planners to understand the processes we follow, learning first-hand what it takes to build our network.

You'll support our Planners to ensure our fibre optic networks are optimally designed and planned, whilst also liaising between different stakeholders & Local Authorities ensuring our network can have the maximum reach.

Our Armed Forces Network

Our Service Leavers know what it means to be a part of something bigger. We’ve set up the CityFibre Armed Forces Network to offer our ex-forces employees a sense of comfort and familiarity. It’s a place to come together, share experiences, offer support and raise awareness for different military charities.

You’ll be introduced to the Network during your time with us, so they can offer support, guidance and answer any questions you might have about your transition into civilian life.

CityFibre’s unique culture

So that’s the opportunity, now let us tell you a bit more about life at CityFibre. We’ve built a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace that offers anyone the chance to grow a new career. We’re a Times Top 50 Employer for Women, have partnerships with Work180, Vercida and Disability Confidence, just to name a few and it inspires us day-to-day. The foundations of our teams are rooted in respect, development and continuous support. Our people are already changing it up, are you ready to join them?
