Job Description

We're changing it up

As the fastest-growing fibre network in the UK, you could say we’re changing things up. Not only are we unlocking the digital potential of an entire nation, but we’re also constantly evolving, to give our people the most seamless employee experience possible. We’re doing this by creating a sense of purpose among our teams and offering career development opportunities the like of which has never been seen before. We’re a company that cares about people, places and new possibilities. Could this be the fresh start you’re looking for?

Building a new, full fibre network has never been more exciting, so don’t miss an opportunity to work for the 2nd largest Fibre network in the UK. Our Network Build teams are revitalising an industry – they’re the ones connecting the dots and assuring the build. They work with cutting-edge technologies and the brightest minds in their field to build a legacy for future generations. They can say the digital map of the UK, is something they’ve created. This is your chance to say you were a part of its creation too.

We think smart, act fast, always back each other and give everything our best. We’re building a legacy, that’s the CityFibre Way. There’s never been a more exciting time to be part of the Network Build team at CityFibre.

A rewarding career

If you’re going to be changing it up, you deserve to be looked after. That’s why we’re offering a salary of £39,563 + a car allowance. On top of that, you’ll be able to enjoy plenty of benefits like 25 days’ holiday, a day off on your birthday, a day off to support a charity or organisation of your choice, a performance-related bonus scheme, and private healthcare to name just a few.

How can you change it up?

Once our fibre network is designed, it needs to be taken out onto the field to ensure it will be fast and functional. We’re looking for creative Fibre Network Planner that can interpret blueprints on-site, answer queries from the Contractors and authorities that help us to build. You’ll also assume accountability for the project management, collaborating with our Designers to deliver the best broadband possible. Day to day, this is what you can expect to be doing:

  • Be responsible for the management and governance of works in compliance with guidelines and code of practice
  • Manage and advise on capacity within the Fibre In The Home city
  • Help to develop, implement and champion CityFibre network elements
  • Improve network capacity monitoring and operational excellence, utilising automation and AI to drive a lean operating model
  • Forecast Capital Expenses and Operating Expenses for designed infrastructure projects

Known internally as a City Planner, you’ll be a planning expert for civil routes and fibre, understanding Fibre In The Home designs. With your solution-orientated approach, you’ll drive improvements across our team and cultivate key relationships, contributing to the success of our network. You will bring some of the below to CityFibre with you:

  • Experience in manipulating data and metadata underpinning a fibre design
  • Knowledge of Diversionary works code of practice and its application
  • Ability to produce detailed industry-standard level of survey, installation and as-built documentation
  • Understanding of long-distance fibre networks, Comsof FibrePlanIT and GE Smallworld software
  • NRSWA accreditation to supervisor level would be beneficial

If you’ve just found yourself nodding and thinking, ‘I can do that!’, things are about to get exciting.

Our unique culture
