Job Description

This is a Temporary-Exempt (TEX) Category 18 Appointment and is limited to three (3) years. 

Position Description 

Under general supervision, the Social Work Supervisor for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is responsible for supervising, assigning, reviewing and participating in the work of the IHSS Unit. This position provides tailored and enhanced services to meet the needs of high-risk Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) residents who are eligible to receive In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS).  

The Essential Functions of this job may include but are not limited to the following. According to Civil Service Commission Rule 109, the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job class and are not intended to be an inclusive list.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of seven (7) IHSS Social Workers assigned to work with Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) residents.

2.  Reviews and approves IHSS intakes and re-assessments submitted by Social Workers in CMIPS II.

3. Meets regularly with Social Workers to review cases and troubleshoot services issues.

4. Participates in collaborative sites meetings as required to ensure IHSS recipients are receiving services and maintaining housing and health stability.   

Qualifications

1. Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university;

AND

2. Experience:  Three (3) years (6,000 hours) of verifiable social casework or employment services experience with a public or private agency/organization.

Substitution:  Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one (1) year.
