The City and County of San Francisco is built on a foundation of diversity and culture. Sitting at the top of Silicon Valley, the need for innovation to bring the diversity of the City’s workforce in line with the region that the City supports has led to the Human Resources Modernization Program. We are leveraging a user-centered data-driven approach to transform how the City hires and retains its most important resource: its people.
You will be joining a small team that is leading the charge to modernize the systems and processes utilized by People and People Managers throughout the City's departments and agencies. As a first step in this effort, we have implemented a new cloud-based applicant tracking system (ATS) and an API-integrated, AWS-hosted, custom application to support our civil-service hiring processes.
Under the general supervision of the program’s technical lead your day may include any of these tasks:
Developing additional functions and processes to support the AWS Lambda calculation functions for the ATS Applications.
Identifying, investigating, and developing solutions for bugs and other erroneous activities in the Python, Java, PHP, React.js, and PostgreSQL application frameworks.
Engineering new and secure systems and integrations.
Contributing to the development of feature backlogs.
Supporting and maintaining CI/CD Pipelines, including Jenkins and AWS CodePipeline.
Participate in working groups and as a team member across divisions and organizations.
Experience building API integrations utilizing XML and JSON formats.
Experience as a web developer, webmaster, or python developer.
Understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically in utilizing managed services including AWS Lambda, AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon Simple Queuing Service (SQS).
Experience working in cross-functional teams and in highly collaborative environments.
An associates degree in computer science or closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].
Three (3) years of experience in application or software development or programming.
