Job Description

In preparation for the November 8, 2022, Consolidated General Election, the Department is seeking applications for one seasonal position of logic and accuracy proofer to assist the Polling Place Operations Division with various election tasks, including validating, monitoring and tracking of reports generated by voting equipment. This position involves working primarily at the Department’s warehouse located at Pier 31.

Position Schedule and Hours:

This is a seasonal position, with the start date contingent upon completion of the hiring process. The Department intends to fill this position by September 26, 2022. The end date for this position is approximately second week of November; the exact end date will be determined by the operational needs of the Department.

Work hours will vary in accordance with the demands of the election cycle and will range between 40 and 60 hours per week. Although most work is expected to be completed during normal workday hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, employees must be available to work overtime both during the week and on weekends as necessary. Overtime hours will be paid at 1.5 the hourly rate.

This is a temporary exempt as-needed position. Temporary exempt as-needed employees who have worked more than 1040 hours in any consecutive 12 month period, and whose normal work week at the time of inclusion in the system is not less than 20 hours are eligible for health coverage and retirement benefits. Position Salary: $25.9125/hour

 Position Description:

 The ideal candidate must have strong work ethic and a high level of integrity. The position requires someone with excellent analytical and proofreading skills. Tasks include the accurate proofreading of reports generated by voting equipment, preparing and organizing test ballots, and preparing and inspecting voting equipment. Every task is performed in a strict process-driven environment and requires flexibility and adaptability.

Typical tasks include:

·         Proofreading reports with expected 100% accuracy

·         Organizing and filing of reports and documents in a prescribed manner

·         Validating, monitoring, or tracking reports

·         Handling of voting equipment which may include labeling, tagging, bagging, cleaning, organizing, and lifting (with load weighing around 25 pounds).

·         Scanning barcodes, and preparing forms and labels

·         Providing general clerical support

·         Assisting with other election-related functions, as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

These minimum qualifications establish the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license(s) which are required for employment in the classification. 

  1. Six (6) months of clerical experience including preparing and maintaining a variety of records and/or documents, filing, use of office equipment, public contact and processing of incoming and outgoing mail: OR
  2. Completion of 15 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of coursework from an accredited college or university; OR

3.       Completion of a clerical training program (240 hours); OR

4.       Completion of an approved City and County of San Francisco Clerical Administrative training program.
