Job Description

You are a smart, reliable experienced ‘full life-cycle’ Payroll Accountant.  You are passionate about ensuring every employees paycheck is accurate, 100% of the time.  You understand the importance of deadlines and are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure your deadlines are met on a consistent basis.  You are comfortable reaching out to all levels of the organization when timesheets are ‘late’.  You work collaboratively with Human Resource regarding all new hires, termination and changes in benefits.  You are customer service oriented and do not get frustrated when employee ask questions about the timekeeping system or their paycheck. 

The Company is seeking an experienced and energetic Senior Payroll Accountant, with a solid understanding of finance and accounting requirements for government contractors, to run the entire payroll life-cycle (payroll is produced ‘in-house’).  The Senior Payroll Accountant will have a diverse set of responsibilities and will be an integral part of the finance team.  While primarily focused in the area of employee payments (payroll and expense reimbursements) and labor accounting, the Senior Payroll Accountant will have ample opportunity to work in other areas of corporate accounting. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process Timesheets/Labor Distribution for employees and subcontractors
  • Process Payroll, process payroll related activities
  • Work closely with out-sourced payroll tax service provider for reporting and remitting payroll taxes each period and/or quarter
  • Ensure 401(k) employee withholdings and employer match are remitted to the 401(k) record keeper
  • Work closely with Human Resources and maintain benefits data in payroll system to ensure 100% accuracy of employee pay
  • Prepare year-end W2 statements
  • Review/audit employee expense reports and prepare for payment
  • Participate in a variety of annual audits
  • Costpoint 7.0 experience is required
  • 8-10 years of payroll experience, at least 4 years full life-cycle
  • Outstanding oral/written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior use of Cognos reporting tool is a plus
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in accounting
  • 7-10 years of related payroll experience in the Government Contracting space
  • Ability to effectively interface and develop internal partnerships and collaborative opportunities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with AI recruiting tools a plus

This Leadership Level 5 role can grow in many directions.  This position could lead to a management position as we grow.  Advancement will depend upon you further developing your leadership skills and supporting the company’s and organization’s KPI’s and Needle Movers.
