Job Description

This is a rotating schedule of work below is a better explanation: 

  • Week 1 – 5 am to 1:30 pm Monday through Friday 
  • Week 2 – 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday 
  • Week 3 – 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday 
  • Week 4 – 8 am to 6:30 pm Monday through Thursday 
  • Week 5 – 5 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday – 8 am to 4:30 pm Thursday and Friday Schedule starts over with week 1.
     

Responsibilities:

  • Loads, unloads, hauls, and applies sewage sludge and, if applicable, scum, grit, and screenings according to approved procedures including application to agricultural land, landfills, etc 
  • Inspects, repairs, seals and maintains free flowing conditions in sewer lines, drains, ditches and culverts. If appropriate adjusts manholes; lays sewer lines to upgrade; patches streets and sidewalks; and erects and repairs fences 
  • Loads, unloads, hauls and spreads sand, gravel and dirt; digs and refills ditches and trenches 
  • Inspects, cleans and performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, servicing, and care of equipment, vehicles, tools, pumps and other mobile and stationary equipment 
  • Maintains records and log of work activities 
  • Uses materials, supplies, and hand or power tools 
  • Understands and carries out oral and written directions 
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contracted during the course of work 
  • Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures; familiar with confined space entry, traffic safety and control 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Two years experience in the operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles 
  • Possess valid driver’s license 
  • Possess state required equipment operator license 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Two years experience in the operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles, heavy equipment, farm machinery, pumps and sewer line maintenance equipment 
  • Knowledge of the principles employed in the general operation and maintenance of vehicles, engines, pumps, valves, motors, farm machinery, and related equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems; safe work practices. 
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance and servicing of vehicles, equipment, and sewers.
