Job Description

Position Summary: Lead pharmacy operations across multiple locations and teams, to ensure timely and accurate handling of all patient dispensing activity. Oversee end-to-end operations for Specialty Pharmacy locations, including referral intake and patient refill adherence. Drive consistency and continuity across pharmacies. Ensure all activities are completed in compliance with regulatory, policy and procedure requirements for accuracy, safety and security, while delivering high-quality customer service to patients.
 

Essential Functions:

• Foster and model a workplace culture across the Pharmacy fulfillment teams and California locations, focused on patient safety, and on being fast, accurate, helpful and on-time in treating all patients.

• Ensure teams trained to and consistently follow best practices for effective, efficient pharmacy and operations workflow. Work with direct reports, QI, and Training teams to improve workflow best practices as necessary.

• Establish standardized metrics and targets, with a particular focus on accuracy, patient safety, and associate and team productivity. Ensure teams consistently measure and manage to key metrics, to continually improve results.

• Ensure high-quality leadership and individual performance is recruited and sustained at all levels of the team. Work with teams and HR to ensure effective accountability and performance management processes implemented , and that all associate certifications and licenses are current and active.

• Ensure processes in place to enable all appropriate technical, policy and regulatory guidance provided, and trained to as appropriate, for all Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and associates.

• Ensure all sites properly perform inventory audits and maintain inventory, proper storage conditions and cleanliness, and recording of medications and supplies. Maintain regular cycle of on-site audits to pharmacies to ensure consistent compliance with pharmacy standards.

• Oversee materials management department, to ensure safe and cost-effective procurement of all medications and supplies. Ensure sites maintain appropriate inventory levels at all times.

• Ensure teams are managed in a fiscally sound manner consistent with company financial goals.
• Develop and implement effective pharmacy capacity planning / staffing models, and recruitment and training strategies, in support of meeting service standards and continued growth.
• Train new and existing associates in the use of pharmacy software system, supplemental applications, customer service techniques, job responsibilities, and departmental workflow. Identify deviations from training and/or processes during normal work activity.
• Serve as the SME for new applications, software upgrades, work queues, accuracy and other related processes.
• Promote training participation & coach associates in following new and existing workflow processes. Deliver messages that promote change adoption

 

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in pharmacy leadership position, including some specialty pharmacy experience

• Licensed pharmacist for minimum of 8 years.
